The club was founded in 2006 by a group of parents and is a football academy in Lebanon. Athletico S.C. puts an emphasis on enabling disadvantaged children and adolescents, between the ages of 5 and 17, to play football.

In addition to professional training conducted by qualified and dedicated international and local trainers, the teams also participate in national and international events.

Especially through the active cooperation with the French first division club Olympique Lyon, a continuous training of coaches is guaranteed.

Currently, the Athletico Sports Club is able to train children at 6 locations in Lebanon.

In conjunction with the Bangkok Christian College, Ernst Middendorp supports a project that introduces children and adolescents to football and a life of movement.

 

“Just Believe in Your Dream” project is a screening project organized in the form of a football tournament in which children can prove themselves on a scholarship at Bangkok Christian College.

 

Once a child is admitted from the Bangkok Christian College, both the child / player and the family receive financial support.

After the earthquake in eastern Japan on March 11, 2011, the living environment of many people has changed completely. However, while the restoration of the city and the rebuilding of the economic environment has been steadily promoted, it is also a fact that the living environment of the children that need to be protected has unfortunately been postponed.

The project "Future Local" Genkids, launched by Kenjihiko Ohtahara, president of NPO Corporation's "Two Campsite Locals" and Gert Engels, concentrated on children affected by the tsunami and nuclear disaster.

The origin of the project was Mr. Gert Engels. It was developed based on football education activities in African countries by the NPO organization "Auf Ballhöhe" based in Germany. In addition, the German Football Association has shown its full support.

Above all the connection between sport, culture and education stands with this project in the forefront. It also aims to promote pioneers who will be responsible for the future reconstruction of the earthquake.

The initiative “Team Bananenflanke” is an innovative football project for disabled children and adolescents.

Originating from a press conference for disadvantaged children the project has become so successful that further actions, events and a football club could be established. Experience-pedagogical influences are intended to awaken extraordinary emotions and to help develop personality and social skills. The focus is on building a positive sense of self-esteem.

The project, which was also awarded by Federal President Joachim Gauck with the "great Star of sport" in gold, is now widespread and its own "Banana flank leagues" were founded. Across the country, clubs have been created that run under the name Banana flank, such as the "Banana flank Berlin e.v." and participate in the game operation in their region.

The Sudanese Football Association was founded in 1936, became part of FIFA in 1948 and belongs to the founding members of Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Michael Krüger will donate his prize money to the Sudanese Football Association in order to support the construction of a new football academy for children and teenagers. After the establishment, the academy will host different courses, seminars and activities to support and promote young talents all over the country.

The Csányi Foundation was set up in Hungary to help provide gifted children from disadvantaged backgrounds with the means to help nurture and develop their talent. Over the last few years the Foundation has developed and grown with the help of prominent specialists and with the increasing financial support that has been given by people in Hungary. The Foundation not only supports the children in the program but also helps contribute financially to a number of organisations and individuals who are working towards making a better future for the children in our country.

Gernot Rohr was the national coach of Burkina Faso and with his prize money our 2016 awardee supports the FOGEBU football academy. A few weeks after the event, thanks to the support of Richard Tiené and the German Embassy, he was able to hand over the donations to the President of the FOGEBU Academy, Mr. Kouate.

Various clubs and academies around Ouagadougou took part in the tournament and the team of the FOGEBU academy emerged victorious in the final with a 1-0 win. We are very pleased with the commitment of Gernot Rohr and hope to continue the support of further projects together with the German Embassy in Burkina Faso.

Erich Rutemöller supports the Korea Football Loving Foundation in Seoul. Established in 2004, this organization supports young players from handicapped backgrounds, promotes football in Korean kindergartens and helps young people integrate through sport.

Erich Rutemöller's prize money will be donated this year to a project by the organization which deals with the promotion of the integration of North Korean refugees through football related events in Korea.

Burkhard Pape is supporting the Uganda Youth Soccer Academy. Founded by Ivan Kakembo, the organization has been promoting disadvantaged children through football and education for more then eight years. The academy develops various support programs for children of all ages and works closely with local schools to make the training continually better.

The academy also has the goal to bring football to the poor regions of the country to support children. At the same time, the engagement should raise awareness about AIDS and other diseases and contribute to education.

With his prize money Jürgen Klinsmann, coach of the US national team, supports the "Soccer for Success" program, a joint project of the US Soccer Foundation and the El Monte Community Building Initiative.

 


The "
Soccer for Success" program is a free afterschool project that uses soccer as a tool to address children's health issues and juvenile delinquency, while promoting healthy lifestyles in urban underserved communities. In collaboration with community-based organizations like the El Monte Community Building Initiative, the program is able to provide thousands of children with free afterschool programming three times per week for the entire school year.

Our nominee, Michael Nees, decided to support the Peres Center’s “Twinned Peace Soccer Schools” program, which aims to instill principles of equality, diversity and respect in Israeli and Palestinian and Jewish and Arab children and youth through the medium of football, by fostering values of peace and coexistence and changing attitudes toward the “other,” while diffusing stereotypes.

Mit verschiedenen Sportprojekten werden chinesische Kinder und Jugendliche in Peking gefördert und es wird ein internationaler Austausch ermöglicht.

Das Ziel Kindern und Jugendlichen das Fußball spielen mit Spaß und Freude zu lehren steht dabei an oberster Stelle. Der Besuch des Projekts fand unter Anwesenheit des ehemaligen chinesischen Nationalspielers Li Lingyu sowie des ehemaligen CFA-Präsidenten Yan Shiduo statt.

Prospects due to football


Winfried Schäfer supports two projects in Jamaica, the Boys Town Academy and the Federal United Football Club, which is actually professionalizing its structures as a football club. Children and teenagers get advanced and the development of integration will be supported with the prize money.

In Jamaica there is a high violence and crime rate. Sports in general and especially football are a good way to keep the children and teenagers away from crime and give them a valuable activity.

Support from the little neighboring state

The Layan-project is a campaign, which is officially accepted by the refugee relief organization of the UNO (UNHCR) and in charge of the Red Cross in Qatar. The project was build up by a voluntary dedicated group of young people to support refugees from Syria in the North Lebanon. The support is based on help and the reintegration of the asylum seekers by provision of accommodations, groceries and health care.

Role models provide vital energy

The name giver is a Syrian girl, who didn´t get seven month old because of a cardiac disease. Monika Staab gave her prize money to Adel Lamy, former Qatari national player, who is also one of the organizers of the Layan-project.

Strong together

The program “NFA Galz and Goals” was founded in 2009 by the United Nations International Children´s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the Namibian Football Association (NFA). Due to the project more Namibian girls and women are getting encouraged to sports. Sports are used as a platform to draw attention to health and social responsibility. Furthermore thousands of girls and young women in schools are getting supported.    

 

Enlightenment due to communication and organization

The tasks of the partnership between UNICEF and the NFA are among others the development of a curriculum for the communication between teachers, coaches and partners as well as the teachings of a healthy lifestyle. The curriculum also includes enlightenment and information transfer about HIV/AIDS, drugs, alcohol, abuse and discrimination by gender.

“Support for the construction of a football ground”

The organisation “Shanti Griha” of Nepal has arranged for the construction of a football pitch in the Nepalese capital of Katmandu. The prize money used by Holger Obermann will help to finance this project.

Other engagements in Kathmandu

The Franz Beckenbauer Foundation has also contributed finance for the construction of this football ground. The FIFA and Eintracht Frankfurt support the organisation with resources such as football shirts, balls and goals.

“For The Common Good at Real Madrid”

 Sami Khedira"s current club Real Madrid has its own charity project called the “Real Madrid Foundation” which applies itself very professionally in all its different levels of work. The charitable foundation is involved in the areas of sport, education and culture and also works in deprived areas with under privileged youngsters.

The foundation aims its programmes on promoting the development of social and cultural awareness. Its major task is to support the basic values of sport and education together with the social integration of underprivileged people. It also strives to promote the characteristics of different cultures through sport.

Fukushima is a Japanese city in the third-biggest industrial nation of the world. On March 11th 2011 an earthquake and an immense tidal wave (Tsunami) led to a disastrous nuclear accident in Fukushima. The situation in Fukushima long after the disaster is still very difficult and challenging. There are two kindergartens nearby which are supported with the prize money.

“To allow children a better future”

Dettmar decided to support two kindergartens with his prize money in the disaster region around Fukushima and hopes that this will provide a better future for the children living there.

There is a lack of some basic things

Michael Weiss and the initiative “GERMAN FOOTBALL AMBASSADOR” supported a project of the charity CFA (Cebu Football Association) with the prize money. Various football associations and their youth departments were equipped with approximately 235 footballs which were produced in Cebu.

"Kasibulan 6-12 Grassroots Development Project"

This project is a part of the CFA (Cebu Football Association) which concentrates on social and moral values, the finding of the desired personality signs and the attaining of a better quality of life for children supported by the project. An important job is the development of the young population to become productive citizens in the future.

Football for social equity

Football is becoming more and more popular on the Philippines and children should therefore be given the possibility to play organised football and to get away from the street. The objective of the CFA programme is to show that there is fun in sports especially for ungifted children and youngsters. It also works hard on initiatives to prevent violence on the young population.

Humanity help for needy children

The prize money will allow four needy children during the football world championship 2014 in Brazil to receive medical treatment and any necessary operations.

BIG SHOE SOCCER USA – a project of “We help Africa e.V.”

The project organises fund raising in order to allow operations for children who suffer from burns and associated medical conditions. During the World Championships and European Championships large donations are acquired and various activities take place which are endorsed by the initiative “BIG SHOE SOCCER”. During the 2014 Brazil football world championship, 100 needy children will receive medical attention and be operated and funded by the donated money. The Big Shoe was the brand name of “We Help Africa”. Every town received a Big Shoe (shoe size 100) in the colours of their own national flag. The city that collected the most money per inhabitant prior 30th of June 2010, won a special gold Big Shoe.

The Sudanese Football Association was founded in 1936 and has been a member of the FIFA since 1948. It is the biggest country of Africa with a population of approximately 28 million people and most of them live in miserable conditions. The financial troubles of the country only allow sport and education to be offered in small measure to the children there.

The sports manufacturer Puma donates footballs and clothes to the youth departments of the football association.

Otto Pfister wants to help with the prize money the development of the Sudanese football association and its youth departments.

The project Singapore Cerebral Palsy Football Team

This project allows children in Singapore who suffer from infantile Cerebral Palsy (movement disorders) to participate in diverse activities in their everyday lives and for a period of time, to put their disability in the background. The Singapore Cerebral Palsy Football Team is a department of the Singapore Disability Sport Council and represents Singapore in numerous football tournaments.

The team is also supported by the Football Association Singapore (FAS). Singapore won the match against the UAE (United Arab Emirates) 10-3 and came 3rd in the AFC Dream Asia Cerebral Palsy Tournament which was held in Abu Dhabi during 2012. The match was shown live on Abu Dhabi TV Sport Channel and was watched by a large number of viewers.
