ULI STIELIKE WINS MAIN CATEGORY AND SUCCEEDS ANJA ZIVKOVIC
Joe Zinnbauer and Michael Feichtenbeiner complete the final trio
The “German Football Ambassador 2021” is Uli Stielike (main category). The internationally active former football coach prevailed in the final against Joe Zinnbauer (on the right in the picture) and Michael Feichtenbeiner by jury decision. “I feel very honoured and also see the award as a curse and a blessing,” said Stielike. The explanation followed immediately: Actually, he had wanted to enjoy being a pensioner and sometimes go overboard, but with the award he is now in charge again, Stielike said with a smile.

FC BAYERN MUNICH RECEIVES HONORARY AWARD 2021
FC Bayern Munich received the honorary award at the ceremony in Berlin on Wednesday. “With the Honorary Award, our jury is thus not only honouring an exceptional sporting year in 2020, but also FC Bayern München’s overall contribution to the image of (football) Germany in the world,” Roland Bischof, as president of the non-profit association, had already emphasised at the announcement.
“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the team and the coaching staff with Hansi Flick at the top,” said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. The 66-year-old former CEO of the 31-time German champions accepted the award on behalf of the club, which won all six possible titles last year.

INITIATOR - Roland Bischof is the driving force behind the idea of the German Football Ambassador
For 9 years now, Roland Bischof has been the driving force behind the good idea of the German Football Ambassador. With great commitment and private financing (the football ambassador has no public funding such as grants or subsidies!) he built up a nationally known and internationally active movement in a very short time.
He brought numerous supporting personalities and companies together, whereby Rainer Holzschuh and Dr. Norbert Taubken in particular, were important companions and close advisors on his way.

Celisa Pereira has accompanied the football ambassador from the very beginning. Among others, she works for PRESENTED BY… GmbH in the creative sector.

Guido Kambli managed to combine his enthusiasm for sport & media with his professional activities. He begun as a journalist and sports reporter, later on continued as managing director of an event agency and since 1993 he is an independent lawyer.

Horst Hrubesch is a former soccer player and DFB trainer. As a player, he won three German championship titles, the European Cup of State Champions and became European Champion. As coach he became European Champion of the U21, U19 as well as silver medallist of the Olympic Games 2016. Hrubesch is also Walter-Bensemann-Prize winner.

Doris Fitschen is a retired German football player and former assistant to the women’s national team head coach Silvia Neid. Fitschen has been the manager of the women’s national team since 2009.

Dr. Martin Schaefer was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini from the end of 2017 until August 2021 and has been Envoy at the German Embassy in Paris since September 2021. As a former passionate football player, his coaching licence is currently lying useless in the cupboard due to lack of time. At the German Embassy in South Africa, he already had a deep look behind the scenes of the World Cup 2010.

Berti Vogts is former regular player at Borussia Mönchengladbach and became European Champion in 1972 and World Champion in 1974 with the German national team. After his active player time he was national coach in Germany, Kuweit, Scotland, Nigeria and Azerbaijan. Since 2018 he has been a member of the jury of the Deutscher Fussball Botschafter e.V.

Lutz Pfannenstiel has been active as a goalkeeper on all continents. Since August 2020, he has been sports director at the future MLS club St. Louis City SC. Before that, Pfannenstiel worked as a football expert for DAZN, BBC and ZDF, among others, trained international coaches at the German Football Association (DFB) and was most recently the sports director at Fortuna Düsseldorf. Since 2009, he has been involved in climate protection with his project “Global United FC”.
