Two standout personalities. Two special honors. Thomas Müller and Ann-Katrin Berger are
being recognized for representing German soccer far beyond the field.
Thomas Müller receives the Honorary Award. A World Cup champion, Germany’s most
decorated player and current Vancouver Whitecaps player, Müller helps shape the
international image of German soccer with his relaxed, charismatic and unmistakably
positive personality.
Ann-Katrin Berger is honored in the Player Category. The German national team and Gotham
FC goalkeeper represents strength, fighting spirit and willpower – on and off the field. By
openly sharing her experience with cancer, she gives strength to many people and stands as
a role model for never giving up.
The award was presented as part of the 14th annual award ceremony at the German House
of Soccer in New York. The evening was opened by Annalena Baerbock (@abaerbock),
President of the UN General Assembly. As Ann-Katrin Berger was unfortunately unable to
attend in person, she will receive the award the following day during her club training
session with Gotham City FC.
Congratulations, Thomas and Ann-Katrin!
