Albanian Sports Ambassador (ASA) honours for the first time Albanian athletes and trainers for their outstanding achievements abroad. The nominees of the respective categories were announced at the press conference on 04.09.2018. Albanian athletes have proven their skills all over the world. The awards are associated with prize money for social projects, with a focus on development work with children and young people. The aim of the ASA is to inspire people to act through sport and to change the world in a positive way.
Connectedness through sport means that different levels of society are involved and come closer together.
During the press conference, the nominees for all categories were announced in a live broadcast on Supersport1. The founders of Albanian Sports Ambassador Roland Bischof and Luar Arani explained the idea and future direction of the ASA. The initiator of the German football ambassador has assured his support for this project through his organisational network and knows how important the cooperation between Germany and Albania is. The first award ceremony will take place on 28 September 2018 in Tirana. Renowned personalities from sports, politics and culture were delighted to support this initiative.

The jury consists of the chairman, Armand Duka (president of the Albanian Football Association), Dritan Shakohoxha (football commentator), Giovanni “Gianni” De Biasi (former national football coach), and Mirza Alibegaj (basketball coach of the women’s national team and the “Tirana” club).
Erion Veliaj (Chairman and Mayor of Tirana), Artan Shabani (former Director of the National Art Gallery and internationally renowned painter), Elert Yzeiri (Head of Production at A2 CNN), Kujtim Gashi (Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport of the Republic of Kosovo) and Viron Bezhani (President of the National Olympic Committee) also serve on the Board.
