Michael Nees nominated for the „German Football Ambassador 2015“. With his prize money Nees supports the Peres Center for Peace in Tel-Aviv
The Under 21 head coach and technical director of the Israel Football Association has been nominated for the main award 2015 of the initiative German Football Ambassador. The “Deutsche Welle” and founder Roland Bischof have visited Michael Nees in Tel-Aviv to get some insights of his work and life abroad.
Michael Nees has been active worldwide for more than 18 years. He started his international career as national head coach of the Seychelles in 2003. Afterwards he coached the national team of Ruanda and from 2008 to 2012 he was commissioned by the German Olympic Sports Confederation, the Foreign Office and the German Football Association in South Africa working as a technical advisor.

Michael Nees has been coaching the U-21 national team of Israel since 2013 and is also technical director of the association. The focus of his work is promoting young players and the promotion of talents. Michael Nees also emphasizes the positive relationship between Germany and Israel.

He will support the Peres Center for Peace with his prize money. The NGO focused on promoting lasting peace and advancement in the Middle East by fostering tolerance, economic & technological development, cooperation & well-being – all in the spirit of Shimon Peres’ vision. Utilizing the tool of sports, specifically football, each year the Peres Center brings together thousands of Jewish and Arab and Israeli and Palestinian children and youth.
