Monika Staab and Sylvia Walker will join the advisory board just in time for the association’s tenth anniversary and support it with their expertise. President Roland Bischof thanks both protagonists, stating, “I am very happy about the reinforcement. Both are real power women whom I have known and appreciated personally for many years”.
Monika Staab, German Football Ambassador of 2014, is a true pioneer of girls’ and women’s football. She has now been active in over 80 countries and is currently the focus of the international media due to her involvement in Saudi Arabia – where she is building up women’s football including a league and national team. Upon her appointment, she said, “It is a great honour for me to be appointed to this advisory board and to support it with my expertise. The German Football Ambassador Award has become a very important accolade that has great significance for all coaches – above all, it makes their work abroad very much appreciated.”
With Sylvia Walker joining the German Football Ambassador, a media professional is coming on board. The long-time Sky presenter has, since 2017, hosted the annual award ceremony in her usual charming manner. Her great reputation within the German Bundesliga is largely due to her football expertise and her likeable manner, which is reflected in her reaction to her appointment, “I am very much looking forward to the upcoming challenge. It is an honour for me to support the German Football Ambassador and to make things happen with full passion and to create perspectives, especially for children and young people.”
The current advisory board consists of Johannes Ebert (Secretary General of the Goethe Institute), Dietmar Hopp (co-founder of SAP), Urs Meier (former FIFA referee), Katrin Müller-Hohenstein (sports presenter), Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (member of the UEFA Executive Committee) and the chairman Dr. Norbert Taubken (Scholz & Friends Reputation).
