Review of the German Football Ambassador on the surprising World Cup
First of all we had started the project “The 5th Star” together with the musical producer Peter Scholz (among others “The Pope” and “The Medicus”). Peter Scholz donates all proceeds to our non-profit organization, for which we thank him very much.
In this context we started a series of actions with the highlight of an appearance on the Public Viewing Mile in front of the Brandenburg Gate – at the 2:1 against Sweden. Thanks to the great commitment of the team, the support of Sylvia Walker (Sky Germany) and Soccer Style, various press and online campaigns (including Torsten Frings, Sebastian Rode and Dennis Aogo) created great publicity and also 200,000 real viewers on YouTube. Unfortunately, the “5th star” was also immediately over after the preliminary round exit – but there will be another chance in 4 years.
Another very culturally connecting public viewing took place in the Arabic cultural house “The Divan”, to which the Qatari ambassador HE Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdoulrahman Al Thani had invited – besides the invited guests, numerous ambassadors and high-ranking representatives of official institutions, the house was also open for the entire neighborhood, who visibly felt comfortable with “child and cone” – talking to each other instead of about each other, building bridges instead of pre-judging. The Qatari ambassador also gave an exclusive interview to the German Football Ambassador: http://www.fussballbotschafter.de/news/interview-mit-dem-botschafter-des-staates-katar-he-saoud-bin-abdulrahman-al-thani/
We received further exclusive statements from soccer fan, Leon Draisaitl, better known as the most expensive player in German ice hockey history and superstar in the North American NHL. He, who is himself an ambassador for Germany in his sport, took time for us during the private pre-season preparation for his Edmonton Oilers. Also a former German Soccer Ambassador, Gernot Rohr, supported our movement in a great and authentic way. As the national coach of Nigeria, starting with the youngest team of all participants, his team not only delivered great matches, but he professed his support for our idea everywhere: He wore the Soccer Ambassador pin on the sidelines, during press conferences and also after the World Cup during his numerous TV appearances. Other members of our soccer ambassador family, such as Lutz Pfannenstiel, Urs Meier and Thomas Hitzlsperger, also took part in the TV appearances.
Finally, we can already announce that our advisory board will be completely restructured in the “2019 season” – there are already various commitments from very well-known and prominent supporters. We are very much looking forward to taking this next step and will announce the details before the end of the year.
