On May 15, 2019, the German Football Ambassador will award the “blonde angel” Bernd Schuster the Honorary Award at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.

laudatory speech for the 1980 European Champion, who enjoys cult status in Spain, will be given by the Spanish Ambassador H.E. Ricardo Martinez.
Bernd Schuster was the first player in history to play for the three major Spanish clubs FC Barcelona, Real and Atlético Madrid after his time with 1 . FC Cologne in the 1980s. The six-time Spanish Cup winner won the European Cup in 1982 with FC Barcelona and was also twice awarded the best player of the Primera Division.
After his active time, he worked as a coach in Ukraine, Turkey, China and Spain, where he also won the championship with Real Madrid. In 1994, the former international also managed to score the top three places in the goal of the month and the goal of the decade.
The jury particularly appreciated his appearance in Spain: “Bernd Schuster enjoys great sympathy and recognition, especially in Spain, due to his appearance and his pleasant manner, whereby he has positively represented his home country for decades,” said Chairman Rainer Holzschuh.
