DZSENIFER MAROZSAN, TINA THEUNE UND MARGRET KRATZ HEISSEN DIE DEUTSCHEN FUSSBALL BOTSCHAFTERINNEN 2023. DIE ÜBERGABEN FANDEN ERSTMALIG IN LYON; SYDNEY UND ZÜRICH STATT

Plenty of excitement existed in this year’s voting for the Public Award. Dzsenifer Marozsan and Melanie Leupolz were neck-and-neck for the coveted trophy right to the end. In the end, the fans voted Dzsenifer Marozsan from Olympique Lyon with 31.77% ahead of Melanie Leupolz from Chelsea FC with 31.13% as this year’s German Football Ambassador and thus the successor to Ilkay Gündogan.

At the presentation of the award in Lyon, the exceptional player Dzsenifer Marozsan was delighted with the award: “For me, it is a great honour, which I am very happy about because it is always important to me to be a serious, professional and authentic ambassador beyond the borders. Many thanks to all my fans who have supported me so well for so many years now. You are great.”

The second award was presented to Hungarian national team coach Margret Kratz at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia. Kratz thanked all guests at the Goethe Institute in Sydney and expressed her delight for Dzsenifer Marozsan, whom she had trained in the past. Monika Staab, a pioneer of women’s soccer and German Football Ambassador 2014, gave the laudatory speech. Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock was originally supposed to present the award, but her planned arrival ended in Abu Dhabi due to a technical defect.

In the “Women.Football.Global” theme year, in which only women were nominated, the Grand Dame of Football, Tina Theune, who has had a significant impact on the development of women’s soccer, was chosen for the honorary award. Roland Bischof, the president of the non-profit association, presented the soccer world champion with her award at the FIFA Football Museum in Zurich in the presence of many companions, including former world footballer Nadine Angerer.

Im Themenjahr „Frauen.Fussball.

The three winners donated the prize money to the organisations “Girls Power” and “Futbalo Girls”; the DFB women’s national team chose these two projects from the portfolio of projects supported by Common Goal.
