  • Initiative also supports non-profit association German Football Ambassador e.V.
  • New app enables fans to make selfies with their star

Frankfurt a.M./Berlin, 01.12.2020

With the slogan “Your snapshot for eternity” Eintracht Frankfurt’s midfield star Sebastian Rode starts his latest project: a selfie app for fans, which allows football fans to take pictures together with their stars – especially during the Corona period. In addition, every StarSnap (www.StarSnap.de) will help to do something good by supporting the non-profit association German Football Ambassador e.V. (www.fussballbotschafter.de/en), whose good idea Sebastian Rode supports since several years.

Sebastian Rode open for new, innovative ideas

Rode is generally open to new things – a few years ago he was already the first football player in the world to launch his own cross-media Football Player App, which allows fans around the world to call up news about him on their smartphones at any time – thanks to face recognition by simply focusing on a photo (www.sebastian-rode.de). The participation as co-initiator of the new selfie app ‘StarSnap’ is therefore a logical consequence.

Sebastian Rode: “We already had the development of “StarSnap” in progress for quite some time, but especially through Covid-19 the decision matured faster to be able to be with my fans somehow during the difficult time. We also want to make this possible for other football players in the future.”

Rode continues on the charity approach: “I like the idea of the German Football Ambassador e.V., even though I have never played abroad myself. And if I can help, I’m happy to do so.”

Cross-media fan campaigns are planned

The president of the non-profit association, Roland Bischof, remarked: “I have known Sebastian for quite a few years now and it is simply wonderful to see how down-to-earth and empathetic he has remained next to the pitch. It is an honour for us that he now supports our idea with his latest initiative”. Rode, who also played for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund before his return to Eintracht Frankfurt, plans to carry out cross-media fan actions on this topic in addition to the possibility of his own selfies. For this, he is assisted by Florian Ohle, who advises him in this respect: “Sebastian’s fans are always very interested and active, as he also deals with them intensively.”

As the next step, StarSnap plans to make its platform available to other players as well, so that they too can provide their fans with “the snapshot for eternity” and give so many fans at least a little joy in this special time.
