• Decision on May 15, 2019 at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin
Jürgen Klopp is one of three nominees for the nomination of the German Football Ambassador 2019 in the main category coach, which will be decided on May 15 at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
Initiator Roland Bischof presented the certificate to the successful trainer in Liverpool on his third and last nomination trip, before he had already been to Petra Landers in Zambia and Michael Weiß in Mongolia.
"Jürgen Klopp contributes in an extraordinary way to the positive reputation of Germany in England - he has the greatest sympathies here“, said Bischof.
The top-class jury around kicker publisher Rainer Holzschuh was impressed how Klopp conquered the hearts in the storm with his unmistakable manner and is celebrated far beyond Liverpool's borders in England.
Through his passionately lived philosophy in soccer, but also through his down-to-earth attitude in daily life, he gives a thoroughly positive image as a German coach. Since Kenny Dalglish's days as an active player in Liverpool there hasn't been such a hype.
The coach, who was the first German to be voted best coach of the month in England, is proved right by his success. He reached several finals with Liverpool, among others last year in the Champions League, as before with Borussia Dortmund. Also this year he and his team are already in the semi-finals and this season he is fighting a thrilling duel with Manchester City for the English championship title.
His strength and goal is to make players better and to promote team spirit. He already had success with this in his seven years as coach at Mainz 05, before leading Borussia Dortmund back onto the big football stage: He has won the championship, won the cup and is on his way to the top of the league in football - after all, he has always stuck to his values.
When he moved to Liverpool FC in 2015, he took the club to 10th place and has since taken the club to new heights, where he is adored by fans and players alike.
But also beside the place he shows himself committed and successful. As a TV expert he was twice awarded with a Bambi-Award: One of them with the current member of the advisory board of the German Football Ambassador, the referee legend Urs Meier. He played in TV documentaries ("... and in front helps the dear God" by D. Kadel) and also takes care of the social aspects of life. For his award money he chose the South African Hout Bay United Football Community (HBUFC) with the project "Joy Is Round", in which he is an ambassador for the good cause.
The award ceremony will take place on May 15, 2019 at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
